Hot beer: treat yourself with pleasure
I always believe that beer can do anything
In the summer it refreshes and adds energy, in the winter it warms and supports health. Today I will tell you about the benefits of drinking hot beer and share a proven recipe for a cold.
Hot beer: we treat ourselves with taste
When prepared properly, hot beer will not only help relieve cold symptoms, but can also be a delicious alternative to mulled wine.
Hot beer for coughs and colds
It is not without reason that people reach for beer when they are sick. Malt and hops contain B vitamins, vitamin C and microelements that support the regeneration of the body. Malt acts as a natural antiseptic , and hops are a strong antioxidant.
Hot beer relieves cold symptoms and dry cough. The drink dilutes secretions, has a calming effect and supports the body in fighting viruses, especially during sleep, when regeneration is most intensive.
What’s more, you can try compresses made of hot beer – they will warm your throat and help fight a cough. And thanks to its antiseptic properties, the drink can even relieve toothache.
Hot Beer Recipe: Gzaniec — Polish "Doctor"
Simply heating beer isn't enough to make it taste good. Adding spices and honey will make the drink not only healthy but also pleasant to the taste. Here's an old Polish recipe for Gzaniec — an alternative to mulled wine.
Ingredients (for 1 liter of beer):
- Honey - 2 tablespoons
- Cloves - 5 pieces
- Anise - 3-4 stars
- Raspberry syrup - 100 ml
- Cinnamon - 1 stick
- Orange (optional)
Tip:
You can use any beer, but it's worth investing in quality. Cheap, bottom-shelf beer can ruin the taste - it's better to choose a proven brand or home-made beer. Home-made beer is a great choice: inexpensive, tasty and perfect for experimenting!
Preparation:
- Pour the beer into the pot, trying to get rid of excess gas, and place over low heat.
- Important: Do not bring to a boil! The ideal temperature is 70-75°C. How to check this without a thermometer? If the steam is too hot to hold your hand over for long, this is the right time.
- Add spices and honey. Stir carefully – hot beer may foam.
- Maintain the temperature at 70–75°C for 15 minutes. You can cover the pot to retain the heat.
- Strain the drink, add raspberry syrup and that's it - enjoy the taste!
Summary
Beer therapy is a pleasant way to prevent, but it is worth consulting a doctor during illness. Remember also that the quality of beer matters - using bad beer can not only not help, but also harm . Choose wisely and enjoy the taste and health!
